About the Business
Getting people on bicycles, keeping people on bicycles, having fun with it and making a difference.
Lock 7 Ltd the company was formed on October 4th 2007 following an inspiring trip to Copenhagen that made us want to sell beautiful and more interesting bicycles. After much faffing with solicitors, electricity and water, Lock 7 (the first cycle cafe in London), opened on April 5th 2008. The shop and concept were formed around the space. Whilst it is so perfectly located for something to do with bicycles it is also a great space to sit and relax so we felt something combining the two would be perfect. The founders were two local residents Kathryn Burgess and Lee King who loved the space with its view of the canal and cyclists passing. Neither had any previous experience running or owning a business or knew a lot about the bicycle industry apart from they weren't too impressed with the way they were treated in most of the bicycle shops around.
